Strum & Spirits & Cisco – Corporate “Give-Back” Event

Musical Team-Building Event - Strum & Spirits

David Victor’s Strum & Spirits and Cisco came together for a team-building event unlike any other on November 15th, 2017 at the Mark Hopkins International Hotel in San Francisco. The event itself was the largest Strum & Spirits class ever at 58 total participants. The class was extremely well-received by the assembled Cisco group from the opening song “Summer of ’69”, on which the whole team sang along! The whole group learned a legendary classic rock hit and was also treated to a “behind-the-scenes” look at a day-in-the-life on a national rock ‘n roll tour.

But the major differentiation in the event was Cisco’s “corporate giving” initiative: 50 guitars purchased by Cisco were donated to local underprivileged youth in San Francisco. This turned the event from a “win-win” to a “win-win-win”, as local children were the recipients of 50 early holiday gifts.

Strum & Spirits Corporate Team-Building Event

Strum & Spirits - Team-Building Event Class Photo

Strum & Spirits debuted their first corporate team-building event at Robert Lee & Associates LLP in San Jose on Friday, July 7th. The song taught to this group of wild men and women was appropriately enough “Wild Thing” by fabulous Troggs. The song was paired with a lovely jammy Zinfandel of the same name from the Queen of Zinfandels, Carol Shelton Vineyards in Santa Rosa, CA.

The beginning group guitar lesson was capped off by an acoustic performance from class instructor David Victor. David performed several BOSTON classics as well as selections from Journey and Led Zeppelin. “Thank you for…coming to work today!” said Mr. Victor, as he exited the stage.

A good time was had by all. In fact, several commented that they wanted to learn another that same night! Check out the smiles from this group of budding rock ‘n rollers — those are accountants!

The Debut of Strum & Spirits!

I am very excited to announce my debut Strum & Spirits events, which will take place in three Bay Area cities in the month of June 2017.

Strum & Spirits is like a “paint-and-sip” class, except that the “art” is making music! The content is tailored for absolute beginners, but players will enjoy it as well. I provide the guitars (or you can bring your own), and show everyone the fundamentals of the guitar. I also “pair” the song to be learned with an adult beverage. By the end of the show, you’ll actually be jamming along with me as we play a rock ‘n roll classic and probably feeling pretty good. At each event, we learn a different song together and enjoy a new adult beverage. Of course, you don’t have to drink to enjoy the class, though you might think you sound better if you do. 😉 At the end of the class, you can relax as I perform several rock ‘n roll classics on the acoustic guitar. It’s a full night of fun for everyone!

My first event is at The Grand Theatre in Tracy, CA on Thursday, June 15th at 7:00 PM. Join us early for a warm greeting, cocktail hour, getting your guitar ready and finding your favorite seat. Tickets for this event are available on the Grand Theatre online box office here. You must be 21 or over to attend this event.

Following quickly on the debut, Strum & Spirits will host a very special Father’s Day event at Hannah Nicole Vineyards in Brentwood, CA. At this event, you can actually buy a very nice beginner’s guitar for dad as part of your ticket.  Tickets for this event are available on the Hannah Nicole EventBrite link here. Ages 8 and up are welcome at this unique event! Obviously, the kids won’t be drinking, but dad can relax and enjoy on his special day. Get dad something cool and unique for Father’s Day!

Finally rounding out the month is the Strum & Spirits debut in Pleasanton at the very beautiful Firehouse Arts Center on Thursday, June 29th. At this event, the class will actually be able to sit on the incredible Firehouse stage with me as we jam together! Tickets for this event are available on the Firehouse Arts Center website here.
